What is Romeo y Julieta?
Romeo y Julieta is one of the most recognized names in handmade cigars. The marque was founded in Havana, Cuba in 1875 by Inocencio Alvarez and Manin García, taking its name from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It won numerous awards at international tasting expositions between 1885 and 1900, and those gold medals still appear on the brand's band today. The cigars El Paso Smoke Shops carries are the US-market Romeo y Julieta lines made under Altadis U.S.A., handcrafted in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The Reserva Real Nicaragua blend, for example, is a collaboration with master blender AJ Fernandez built on Nicaraguan tobacco.
