Montecristo
Montecristo is a premium cigar brand founded in Havana in 1935 and made for the US market in the Dominican Republic by Altadis. El Paso Smoke Shops carries Montecristo cigars including the 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua, Espada, White Series, and El Conde. Each product page shows the El Paso store that has it in stock for same-day pickup. Photo ID (21+) is verified in store.
What is Montecristo?
Montecristo is one of the best known names in premium cigars. The brand was created in Havana, Cuba in July 1935 by Alonso Menendez, who named it after Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo, a story cigar rollers liked to have read aloud on the factory floor. After the Cuban tobacco industry was nationalized in 1960, the founders rebuilt the brand for the United States market.
The Montecristo cigars sold in the US today are made in La Romana, Dominican Republic by Altadis USA, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands. The range spans Dominican blends like the White Series and El Conde to Nicaraguan puros like the Espada and the 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua, whose No. 2 size was named the No. 2 Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado in 2021. These are the cigars on our shelves in El Paso.
What we carry at El Paso Smoke Shops
Our Hosts keep a working selection of Montecristo handmade cigars in El Paso, drawn from the Dominican and Nicaraguan lines.
Stock moves by location, so each Montecristo product page shows the El Paso store that has that cigar in stock for same-day pickup.
Good to know
Cigars are a 21+ purchase. Montecristo is premium handmade tobacco, so a valid government photo ID is verified in store before any cigar leaves the counter. Online ordering is not live yet. Check per-store availability on the product page, then pick up at the El Paso store that has it. Keep cigars in a humidor around 65 to 70 percent humidity to hold their freshness.
