What is Black and Mild?
Black and Mild is a brand of machine-made cigars and cigarillos rolled with pipe tobacco instead of ordinary cigar filler, which gives it its mellow, aromatic Cavendish character. It is made by John Middleton Co., a tobacco company founded in Philadelphia in 1856 and a subsidiary of Altria Group since 2007. The brand launched in 1980 and grew into one of the best-selling machine-made cigar lines in the United States.
Most styles come with either a plastic tip or a wood tip, and the line spans several flavors built around that signature pipe-tobacco base. Manufacturing is centered in Pennsylvania, where John Middleton has run operations for decades.
