What is Zig-Zag?
Zig-Zag is a French smoking-accessory brand that began in Paris in the 1800s, founded by brothers Maurice and Jacques Braunstein. In 1894 the Braunsteins invented interleaving, the accordion fold that lets one paper rise as you pull the last one free, and the brand took its name from that zig-zag pattern. Its packaging carries the Zouave, a French North African soldier that has long served as the brand's emblem. Today Zig-Zag papers, cones, wraps, and cigarette tubes are sold worldwide. The global brand sits under Republic Technologies of France, and Turning Point Brands has held North American distribution rights for Zig-Zag tobacco products since 1997.
